Walmart curtain rod sales at HomeDepot hit a record $10 million, and the retailer said it expects more to follow this week.
Walmart announced Tuesday that curtain rods have now hit $1.8 million, which is a record for the retailer and the highest-ever number for the product.
Walmart said curtain rods sold through Home Depot reached $1 million for the first time.
Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is also expected to add another $1 billion in merchandise through the end of 2018, according to the company.
The company expects to report its fourth-quarter results on Wednesday, according a company news release.
The holiday season is often the busiest shopping season for retailers, but it’s also the time when consumers spend most on Christmas gifts and decorations.
WalMart said it has sold more than 3.5 million curtain rods and has over a million other products for its stores, including toys, clothing, household goods, and more.
Walton Brothers Home Depot Inc. said it’s expected to report results for the fourth quarter on Wednesday.
The retailer said curtain rod and curtain rod accessories are the second most popular items on its shelves.
Walman said it is looking for more suppliers and partners to supply curtain rods for the company’s stores.
Walmart expects to hire more than 4,500 new workers for its North America headquarters.
